Overview
You can use a workflow to fill a date field with a date a set number of days from today — for example, setting Expected Discharge Date to 30 days from today when the Level of Care is PHP. This is done with an Update Fields action and the expression:
add_days(get_date('today'), 30)
⚠️ TODAY() does not work in workflows. If you enter TODAY(), the CRM shows "Expression is INVALID: Unsupported function: TODAY". Use get_date('today') instead.
Prerequisites
Administrator access to Workflows.
The date field you want to fill (e.g., Expected Discharge Date) is a Date field — not a Reference field.
Step 1: Open a New Workflow
In the left menu, click Settings → CRM Settings.
In the settings menu on the right, open Automation → Workflows.
Click + New workflow.
Step 2: Set Up the Workflow
Enter a Workflow Name (e.g., "Set Expected Discharge Date — PHP") and choose the Target Module (e.g., Intake Opportunities).
Under Workflow Trigger, choose when it should run (for example, when the record is updated).
In the set's All Conditions, click Add Condition and add your Level of Care field is PHP.
Step 3: Add the Update Fields Action
Under Workflow Actions, click Add Action → Update Fields.
Enter an Action Title, click Add Field and choose Expected Discharge Date.
Click the value box next to the field to open Set Value.
In Set Value, change the type to Expression.
Enter add_days(get_date('today'), 30) and click Save.
Click Save on the action, then save the workflow.
Result
When the workflow runs on a record that meets your conditions, Expected Discharge Date is set to 30 days after the day the workflow runs.
Tips
To use a different number of days, change 30 — e.g.,
add_days(get_date('today'), 14).To count from another date field instead of today, use that field — e.g.,
add_days(Admission Date, 30), inserting the field with Use Field. To go back in time, use
sub_days(...).Test the workflow on a test record before relying on it. If a workflow expression fails when it runs, the field is skipped without an error message.
