1. Before You Start
You will need:
A custom module created in Module Builder that has a one-to-many or many-to-one relationship with another module.
Permission to view and edit records in both the custom module and the module it is related to. At least one record in each module to practice linking.
Access requirements: Anyone who can open a record's detail page and has edit access to the related module can use related tabs. Tabs only appear for modules you are allowed to see.
If a related tab does not appear at all for a relationship you set up, the connection may not have been saved correctly when the module was built — re-open the module in Module Builder and confirm the relationship, or contact Dazos support to review it for your instance.
2. Where to Find Related Tabs
Open any record on the side of the relationship that "owns" it — for a one-to-many relationship, that is the record on the "one" side (for example, a custom module record, or a standard record such as an account when the custom module points to it).
Across the top of the record's detail page you will see a row of related tabs. Each tab represents another module connected to this record and shows that module's icon, its name, and a count of how many records are currently linked.
Tip: The number on each tab is the count of records currently linked through that relationship. A count of 0 simply means nothing is linked yet — the tab is still clickable so you can add the first one.
3. Linking Records to a Related Tab
Click a related tab to open its list. From there you have two ways to link records:

Add | Creates a brand-new record in the related module and links it to the record you are viewing in one step. |
Select | Opens a search so you can pick an existing record and link it to the record you are viewing. |
To link records:
1. Click the related tab you want.
2. Choose Add to create a new record, or Select to pick an existing one.
3. Fill in or choose the record and save.
4. The record now appears in the list right away, and the tab's count goes up by one.
To unlink a record, remove it from the list — the tab's count goes down by one. Removing the link does not delete the underlying record; it only disconnects it from this relationship.
Important: Both Add and Select now link the record to the parent automatically. You no longer need to manually set a "parent" field on the new record for it to show up.
4. How Tab Names and Icons Are Chosen
Tab name: Each related tab shows the connected module's own display name as it is branded in your instance.
For example, if your instance calls the Contacts module "Accounts," the tab reads Accounts; if it calls the Accounts module "Referral Sources," that tab reads Referral Sources. The name is consistent no matter which record you are viewing.
Tab icon: A custom module's tab uses the icon you picked for that module when you created it in Module Builder. Standard modules use their familiar built-in icons. If a module has no specific icon, a generic icon is shown so the tab is never blank.
Tip: To change the icon shown on a custom module's tab, edit that module in Module Builder and choose a different icon — the related tab will reflect your choice.
5. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I linked records before this update but they are not showing. Why? Links that did not save correctly under the old behavior were never stored, so there is nothing to display. Simply add or select the records again and they will appear and stay linked from now on.
Q: What is the difference between "Add" and "Select"? Add creates a new record and links it in one step. Select links a record that already exists. Both result in the record appearing in the related tab's list.
Q: Does removing a record from a related tab delete it? No. Removing it only breaks the link for this relationship. The record itself remains in its own module.
Q: The tab shows a name I did not expect (for example, "Accounts" instead of the module I picked). The tab uses the connected module's branded display name for your instance. If that branding looks wrong, it is a naming/label setting for that module rather than a problem with the tab.
Q: Why does a tab show a count of 0? Nothing is linked through that relationship yet. Click the tab and use Add or Select to create the first link.
Q: Do I need to rebuild my custom module or recreate the relationship? No. Existing relationships start working automatically. You only need to link the records you want shown.
