What to Do When a Large Dazos Data Import Freezes or Gets Stuck (CRM)

Overview This guide explains what to do if your CRM data import freezes, gets stuck, or stops responding — particularly when importing very large datasets. If you are attempting to import tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of records.

Symptom / Error

Your CRM import appears to freeze, hang, or stop progressing — even after splitting a large file into multiple smaller files. This is most commonly reported when importing very large datasets (for example, 30,000+ records per file, or 300,000+ records total).

Cause

Very large imports can exceed what the CRM's standard self-serve import tool is designed to handle. When this happens, the import process may freeze or become unresponsive. There is no clearly defined public maximum record count for CRM imports, but imports of this scale are not reliably supported through the standard import interface.

Solution

When a large-scale import freezes or cannot be completed through the standard import tool, the correct resolution is to have the Dazos development team perform the import from the backend. Do not continue attempting to re-run the import yourself — this will not resolve the underlying issue.

  1. Stop attempting the import. If your import is frozen or repeatedly failing, do not continue running it through the CRM interface.

  2. Submit a support ticket. Contact Dazos Support and include the following information:

    • Your organization / facility name

    • A description of the data you are trying to import (record type, estimated record count)

    • The import files you need loaded (attach or share securely as directed by support)

    • Any error messages or behaviors you observed

  3. Wait for the development team to process the import. A member of the Dazos team will perform the import from the backend and confirm when it is complete.

When to Contact Support

Submit a support ticket immediately if:

  • Your import freezes or gets stuck and does not progress.

  • You are importing a very large dataset (tens of thousands of records or more) that cannot be completed through the standard import tool.

  • Splitting the file into smaller batches has not resolved the issue.

⚠️ Important: Large-scale imports of this size should not be attempted as a self-serve process. Submitting a support ticket is the correct and fastest path to resolution.
