CTM Leads Created from Spam Texts via Google Business Profile: Why Phone Numbers Don't Appear in CTM Call Search (CRM)

Why are CTM leads showing up with phone numbers missing from the CTM call search? Learn how spam texts to your Google Business Profile generate these leads and where to find them in the CTM Texts log.

Key Concepts

  • CTM logs calls and texts separately. Searching for a phone number in CTM's Calls log will not surface activity that came in as a text message. Texts are recorded in a separate Texts log within CTM.

  • Google Business Profile numbers can receive text messages. If your CTM tracking number is associated with a Google Business Profile, it can receive inbound SMS messages from anyone — including spam senders.

  • The CTM integration does not currently filter out spam texts. When a text message is received — even a robotext or spam message — the CTM integration may create a lead record in Dazos. This is expected behavior, not a system error.

How It Works

When a text message is sent to a CTM-tracked number connected to your Google Business Profile, CTM logs that activity in its Texts log (not the Calls log). The Dazos CTM integration processes that inbound text and creates a lead record, just as it would for an inbound call.

Because spam texts originate from phone numbers that are not real callers or prospects, these leads will appear in Dazos with an unfamiliar phone number — and that number will not be found if you search CTM's Calls log. To locate the source of the activity, you must check the CTM Texts log instead.

This behavior is confirmed to occur with robotexts and other spam messages. The lead created in Dazos is a direct result of the inbound text event logged by CTM — the integration is working as designed, even though the originating message is spam.

Important Notes

If you see a CTM lead in Dazos with an unrecognized phone number:

  • Do not assume the integration is broken or that the lead came from an unknown source outside CTM.

  • Check the CTM Texts log (not the Calls log) for the phone number and timestamp matching the lead creation time in Dazos.

  • If the Texts log shows an inbound message from that number around the time the lead was created, the lead was generated from that text — which may be spam.

⚠️ Note: The CTM integration does not currently filter out spam or robotexts. Lead creation from spam text messages is expected behavior at this time. If you have questions about managing these records or would like to discuss options for reducing unwanted lead creation, contact your Dazos Customer Success Manager or reach out to Dazos Support.
