Symptom/Error
A picklist field is set as a global picklist, but shows nothing selected under the Global Picklist dropdown. The field appears locked and cannot be edited or updated with new values.
Cause
This occurs when a field has the global picklist setting enabled, but no actual global picklist is selected. This creates an inconsistent state where the field thinks it should use global values, but has none to reference.
Solution
Follow these steps to fix the uneditable global picklist field:
Navigate to the field settings:
Go to Settings → CRM Settings → Module Management → Module Layouts & Fields
Select the module containing the problematic field
Locate the affected field:
Uncheck the global picklist setting:
Verify the field is now editable:
The field should now be available for editing
You can add new picklist values as needed
Important Considerations
⚠️ For EMR-Integrated Fields: Fields like Admitted Status that are updated by EMR integration require special attention. Any changes to these fields need proper mapping and configuration in the EMR settings to ensure data consistency.
