Can the Admitted Status Picklist Be Edited? (Yes — With Caution)
The Admitted Status picklist in Dazos CRM is editable; you can add, modify, or remove values just like any other picklist. However, because this field is often updated automatically by the EMR integration, any changes must be made carefully and with a full understanding of how they interact with the integration setup.
When to Use / Why It Matters
This comes up when customers or CSMs try to add a new Admitted Status value (e.g., a custom discharge type) and believe the field is locked or uneditable. It is not — it can be edited in Module Layouts & Fields like any standard picklist, but changes carry downstream risks if the instance has an EMR integration.
How to Edit the Admitted Status Picklist
Log in to Dazos CRM as an Admin.
Go to Settings → CRM Settings → Module Management → Module Layouts & Fields.
Find the Intake Opportunities module and locate the Admitted Status field.
Edit the picklist values as needed (add, rename, or reorder values).
Save your changes.
If the Field Appears Locked as a "Global Picklist"
In some instances, the Admitted Status field may be linked to a global picklist setting, which prevents editing. To resolve this:
Open the Admitted Status field in Module Layouts & Fields.
If a "Global Picklist" option is checked but no global picklist is actually selected, uncheck the Global Picklist setting and save.
The field will now be editable at the instance level.
⚠️ Important Cautions Before Editing
⚠️ EMR Integration Impact: The Admitted Status field is typically updated automatically by the EMR integration (e.g., KIPU, Alleva). Any new values or changes must be properly mapped and configured in the EMR Settings to avoid data sync issues.
⚠️ Do not remove or rename standard values without a full analysis — removing values like "Admitted," "Discharged," or "AMA" can break reporting, workflows, and EMR field mappings.
⚠️ Outbound Referral alternative: If a customer wants to track patients who were "referred out" after treatment, consider using the Outbound Referral module or a custom checkbox field (e.g., "Referred Out After Treatment") rather than adding a new Admitted Status value. Adding a "Referred Out" status replaces standard discharge tracking and causes patients to be removed from reports that track completion vs. AMA vs. Admin DC.
