How to Use the Updates Tab to Track Field Changes and Audit Trail (CRM)

Overview

When fields appear to be changing automatically in your CRM records, you can use the Updates tab to view a complete audit trail showing exactly when, how, and by whom each field was modified. This helps distinguish between actual system issues and manual changes made by users.

Before You Begin

You'll need access to view the record details where you suspect field changes are occurring. The Updates tab is available on all record detail pages in Dazos CRM.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Record: Open the specific record where you've noticed field changes (such as a Referral Source, Account, or other CRM record).

  2. Access the Updates Tab: On the record detail page, locate and click the "Updates" tab. This tab contains the complete audit log for the record.

  3. Review the Change History: In the Updates tab, you'll see a chronological list of all field modifications, including:

    • Date and time of each change

    • Name of the team member who made the change

    • Specific field that was modified

    • Previous and new values

  4. Identify the Source: Look for entries showing changes to the field in question. For example, you might see: "Date: Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 3:27 PM | Updated by: Joey Ferguson | Action: 'Assigned To' changed from Meagan Cothron to Mischa Staton."

Verification / Expected Result

After checking the Updates tab, you should be able to:

  • See the complete history of field changes for the record

  • Identify which team member made each change

  • Determine the exact date and time of modifications

  • Confirm whether changes were made manually by users or if there's a genuine system issue

Common Use Cases

Use the Updates tab when:

  • Assignment fields appear to be changing between team members

  • Status fields seem to update without user action

  • You need to track who made specific changes for accountability

  • Investigating potential data integrity issues

  • Creating audit reports for compliance purposes

💡 Tips & Notes

💡 Tip: The main Summary view only displays current field values, which can make it appear that fields are changing automatically. Always check the Updates tab for the complete change history.

✅ Best Practice: When reporting field change issues to support, include screenshots from the Updates tab showing the change history to help with troubleshooting.

⚠️ Important: If the Updates tab shows no manual changes but fields are still changing, this may indicate a genuine system issue that should be escalated to support.
