Frequently Asked Questions
1. Before You Start
You will need:
A sending domain already added to your workspace (or you can add one during setup)
Login credentials for the company that manages your domain (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Hostinger, etc.)
Access to your DNS host's control panel to add DNS records
Access requirements: Any workspace user with permission to manage Settings can access this wizard.
If you do not see Sending Domains in your Settings menu, contact your workspace administrator to confirm your role has the required permission.
2. Open Sending Domains
From the left sidebar, navigate to Settings → Sending Domains.
The page lists all domains registered to your workspace, with columns showing the verification status for SES, Mailgun, and Policy.
Sending Domains list showing domains with Pending verification badges
Status badge | Meaning |
Domain verified | This service has confirmed your DNS records are correct |
Pending verification | DNS records have not been verified yet — click to open the wizard |
itrack pending | Click tracking CNAME is not yet verified |
CNAME verified | Policy CNAME record is in place |
3. Start the Setup Wizard
Click any Pending verification badge, or click the Set up domain → button in the row actions menu for a domain. Either action opens the Domain Setup Wizard for that domain.
Domain Setup Wizard — Step 1 of 5 with progress bar and DNS host selector
The wizard shows a five-step progress bar at the top. Each circle represents one step; the current step is highlighted in blue. You can navigate between steps by clicking the step circles or using the Next and Back buttons inside each step panel.
Tip: You can leave the wizard at any time and come back. Your domain's verification status is saved automatically — you do not need to start over.
4. Step 1 — Sign In to Your DNS Host
Your DNS host is the company where you registered your domain (e.g. GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Hostinger, Google Domains).
Use the Using a different host? dropdown to select your provider. A direct link to that provider's login page will appear.
Click Opens in your DNS host to open the login page in a new tab.
Sign in with your DNS host account credentials.
Tip: Not sure who your DNS host is? Check the confirmation email you received when you first bought or registered your domain.
5. Step 2 — Find the DNS Settings Page
Once logged in to your DNS host, you need to navigate to the DNS management area. The wizard shows illustrated instructions for the most common providers.
Look for a section called DNS Management, DNS Settings, Advanced DNS, or Zone Editor — the exact name varies by provider.
6. Step 3 — Add Your TXT Records
Step 3 lists all the TXT records you need to add to your DNS host.
TXT records table with Name, Value, Type columns and copy buttons. For each record in the table:
Click the copy icon next to the Name field to copy it to your clipboard.
In your DNS host, create a new TXT record and paste the Name into the Host or Name field.
Click the copy icon next to the Value field and paste it into the Value or TXT Value field.
Set the Type to TXT .
Save the record.
Repeat for every row in the table.
Column | What to enter in your DNS host |
Name | The host/subdomain field (e.g. @ , _domainkey , or a subdomain) |
Value | The full TXT record value — use the copy button to avoid typos |
Type | Always TXT for this step |
Tip: DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate. You do not need to wait before continuing to the next step.
7. Step 4 — Add Your CNAME Records
Step 4 lists all the CNAME records you need to add. These enable DKIM signing, click tracking, and policy compliance.
CNAME records table with Name, Value, Type columns and copy buttons Follow the same process as Step 3:
Copy the Name value and paste it into your DNS host's Host or Name field.
Copy the Value and paste it into the Points to or Target field.
Set the Type to CNAME.
Save the record.
Repeat for every row in the table.
Important: Do not add a trailing dot ( . ) to CNAME values unless your DNS provider specifically requires it — most do not.
8. Step 5 — Verify Your Domain
Once all records have been added to your DNS host, return to Step 5 of the wizard to run verification.
Verify My Domain button and per-service status badges
Click Verify my domain.
The wizard checks each service (SES, Mailgun, Policy, Tracking) and updates the status badges.
A green alert at the top confirms which services passed. A yellow alert indicates which are still pending.
Service | What it confirms |
SES | Email sending via Amazon SES is authorized for your domain |
Mailgun | Mailgun can send and track emails from your domain |
Policy | The redirect CNAME for your unsubscribe/policy page is in place |
Tracking | Click tracking links will resolve correctly for your domain |
Tip: If verification fails, wait 15–30 minutes for DNS changes to propagate, then click Verify my domain again. You can repeat this as many times as needed.
9. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to complete all five steps in one session? No. The wizard saves your domain's verification state automatically. You can stop after any step and return later — the wizard will open at the first incomplete step.
Q: What if my DNS host is not in the dropdown list? Select Other from the provider dropdown. The same DNS records apply regardless of provider — the dropdown only controls which login link is shown. Follow your host's documentation to locate their DNS management section.
Q: I clicked "Verify my domain" but one service is still Pending — what do I do? DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. Double-check that you saved each record correctly (no extra spaces, no missing characters), then try again after 15–30 minutes.
Q: Can I re-run verification after a domain is fully verified? Yes. The Verify my domain button is always available on Step 5, even after verification succeeds.
Q: What does "itrack pending" mean on the domain list? It means the click-tracking CNAME record (Step 4) has not yet been verified. Click the badge to open the wizard and complete the CNAME step.
Q: Will adding these DNS records affect my existing email or website? No. These are additive records (TXT and CNAME) that do not replace or override existing DNS entries. Your current website, MX (email delivery), and other DNS records are not changed.
Q: I accidentally closed the wizard — how do I get back to it? Go to Settings → Sending Domains and click the Pending verification badge on the domain you were setting up. The wizard will open where you left off.
Need Help?
If you run into issues:
Check the status badges on Step 5 to identify which service is still pending.
Return to Steps 3 and 4 and verify each DNS record was saved correctly in your DNS host.
Contact Dazos support with the domain name and a description of which status remains Pending, referencing ticket ICD-1313.
