Auto-Create and Map Lead Fields to Accounts (CRM)

Overview When adding a new custom field to the Leads module, you can now have the CRM automatically create an identical field in Accounts and add it to Lead Conversion Data Mapping — all in a single step. This eliminates the previous multi-step manual pro

Before You Begin

  • Admin access to CRM Settings

  • The Leads module selected in Module Layouts & Fields

⚠️ Note: If the "Auto-create and map field in Accounts" checkbox is not visible, make sure you are in add mode (not editing an existing field) and that the Leads module is selected in the Layout Editor.

Steps

Step 1 — Open the Leads Layout Editor

Navigate to Settings → Module Management → Module Layouts & Fields. In the Select Module dropdown, choose Leads.

The page displays all layout blocks for the Leads module. Each block has an + Add Custom Field button in its header — click the one in the block where you want the new field to appear.

Step 2 — Create the Custom Field with Auto-Mapping

The Create Custom Field panel opens on the right side of the screen. Fill in the field properties:

Field

Description

Example

Label Name

The display label for the field on Leads records

Referral Source Detail

Field Column Length

Column span in the record layout (1 = half-width, 2 = full-width)

1

Maximum character length for text fields

255

Field Type

The data type for the field

Text

Scroll to the bottom of the panel and check "Auto-create and map field in Accounts", then click Save.

💡 Tip: This checkbox only appears when adding a new field to the Leads module. It is not shown when editing an existing field or when any other module is selected.

Step 3 — Confirm the Auto-Create

After the Lead field is saved, a confirmation prompt appears showing the field name and asking whether to also create it in Accounts and add the Lead Conversion mapping.

Button

What It Does

Yes

Creates the matching field in Accounts and adds the Lead Conversion Data Mapping entry

No

Skips the auto-create — only the Leads field is kept

Click Yes to proceed. A success notification confirms the field was created in Accounts and the mapping was added.

Step 4 — Verify the Result

Navigate to Settings → Data Mapping → Lead Conversion Data Mapping. The new field appears in the list with the same label in both the Leads and Accounts columns.

The new field is immediately active and visible on Accounts record detail and edit views — no additional activation step is required.

💡 Tip: The mapping row is editable. If you need to also map the field to Intake Opportunities, open the mapping row and update it from the Lead Conversion Data Mapping page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use this option when editing an existing Leads field?
No. The checkbox only appears when adding a new field. To map an existing field, use Settings → Data Mapping → Lead Conversion Data Mapping directly.

Q: What field types support auto-create?
All standard field types are supported except OptionWithDetail. If you select OptionWithDetail, the checkbox will not appear — create and map that field type manually.

Q: What happens if a field with the same label already exists in Accounts?
The system will display an error after the Lead field is saved. The Lead field will have been created, but you will need to add the mapping manually from the Lead Conversion Data Mapping page.

Q: Does the auto-created field in Accounts need to be activated separately?
No. The field is immediately active and visible on Accounts records as soon as it is created.

Q: What happens to the mapping if I later delete the Leads field?
The mapping entry is removed automatically. If you delete the Accounts field instead, the mapping entry is updated to remove the Accounts link, but the Leads field and its mapping row remain.

Q: Can I create multiple fields at once and use auto-create for each?
No. If you use the Create Multiple Fields toggle, the auto-create step is skipped for that batch. The option only fires when a single field is saved at a time.

Q: Is this available on all instances and brands?
Yes. The feature is available on all instances for both InsightsTx and AllevaCRM with no additional configuration.
