When your iConnect AI Agent receives a Leads enquiry, the CRM can automatically turn it into a Contact and an Intake Opportunity for you. This guide shows administrators how to choose the Sales Stage that every one of those auto-created Intake Opportunities should start in — so new intakes land in the right place instead of showing an empty or placeholder stage.

1. Before You Start
You will need:
A CRM administrator (or customer-admin) login. Only administrators can view and change AI Agent Settings.
An active iConnect AI Agent already set up for your instance.
At least one Sales Stage value configured for Opportunities (these are the values you manage under Module Management → Picklist Field Values).
Access requirements: This setting lives on the iConnect Agent tab and appears only when the iConnect type is set to Leads. If you don’t see the AI Agent Settings screen at all, your role may not have administrator access.
If the iConnect Agent or the Leads option isn’t visible, contact Dazos support to confirm the feature is enabled for your instance.
2. Open AI Agent Settings
From the CRM, go to Settings → CRM Settings → AI Agent Settings.
On this screen you’ll see a row of agent tabs (for example iConnect, Screen Agent, Recover Agent, and others). Open the iConnect Agent tab and make sure the agent is enabled.
3. Choose the iConnect Type
Under Select iConnect Type, choose Leads.
Select iConnect Type set to Leads
Choosing Leads reveals the Lead-specific configuration, including the new Default Sales Stage section, which appears just below the Auto-Conversion Rules.
Note: The Default Sales Stage section is shown only for the Leads type. If you switch to Account / Opportunity / VOB, the section is hidden because it does not apply there.
4. Set the Default Sales Stage
In the Default Sales Stage section, open the Sales Stage dropdown and pick the stage you want every auto-converted Intake Opportunity to start in (for example, Contacted). Then click Save. A confirmation message appears.
Default Sales Stage section with a Sales Stage selected and the Save button
Control | Purpose |
Sales Stage dropdown | The stage applied to the Intake Opportunity created when a Lead is auto-converted. Lists the same values you manage for Opportunities. |
Save button | Saves your choice. From this point on, new auto-converted Intake Opportunities use this stage. |
From now on, whenever an iConnect Lead is automatically converted, the new Intake Opportunity’s Sales Stage is set to your chosen value.
Tip: To clear the default, set the dropdown back to – Select Sales Stage – and click Save. Auto-converted Intake Opportunities then keep the previous behavior for Sales Stage.
5. How It Works
When a value is set: Each Lead that the iConnect Agent auto-converts creates an Intake Opportunity whose Sales Stage is your chosen value.
When left blank: The system behaves exactly as it did before — no default stage is forced.
If the chosen stage is later removed: If you delete the Sales Stage value you had selected here, the system safely skips it (it will never assign an invalid stage) and the conversion still completes. Re-open this setting and choose a current value.
This setting is specific to your instance and does not affect any other tenant, agent tab, or the manual “Convert Lead” screen.
6. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this change how I manually convert a Lead? No. This setting applies only to Leads that the iConnect AI Agent converts automatically. Converting a Lead by hand from the Leads screen is unaffected.
Q: Which Sales Stage values appear in the dropdown? The same Sales Stage values you manage under Settings → Module Management → Picklist Field Values for Opportunities (Intake Ops – Sales Stage).
Q: How do I turn the default off? Set the dropdown back to – Select Sales Stage – and click Save.
Q: What happens if I selected a stage and then deleted it from the picklist? The system detects the stage is no longer valid, skips it, and completes the conversion without assigning an invalid stage. Simply re-open this setting and pick a current value.
Q: Will this affect other AI Agent types like Account / Opportunity / VOB? No. The Default Sales Stage section is only used for the Leads type and has no effect on the other agent tabs.
Q: Does the change apply to Intake Opportunities created before I set this? No. It applies only to new auto-conversions that happen after you save the setting.
7. Need Help?
If you run into issues:
Confirm the iConnect Agent is enabled and the type is set to Leads.
Re-open the Default Sales Stage setting and confirm your chosen stage is still a valid, current Sales Stage value.
Contact Dazos support with the details and reference CRM-3282.
