API Access Key Not Visible — How to Fix Role Permission Issues (CRM)

This guide helps you resolve a common issue where a user generates an API Access Key in Dazos CRM but cannot see it — and cannot find the User Advanced Options section where the key is displayed. This is almost always caused by a role permissions issue.

Symptom

The user attempts to generate an API Access Key and the screen confirms it was created, but:

  • The Access Key is not visible anywhere in the user profile.

  • The User Advanced Options section is missing from the user's profile page.

Cause

The User Advanced Options section — which contains the API Access Key field — is only visible to users with the correct role permissions. If a user's role does not grant access to this section, the key will appear to be generated but will not be visible to that user.

This is a permissions issue, not a system error. The key itself may exist, but the user simply does not have the role-based access required to view it.

Solution

An administrator must update the affected user's role settings to grant access to User Advanced Options and API key generation/viewing. Follow the steps below.

  1. Log in as an Administrator. You must have administrative privileges to modify user roles in Dazos CRM.

  2. Navigate to Settings. Click the Settings (gear icon) in the left-hand navigation bar.

  3. Go to User Management. Within Settings, navigate to User & Access Management and click Manage Users.

  4. Select the affected user. Find the user who cannot see their Access Key and click their name to open their profile.

  5. Review and update the user's role. Check the role assigned to this user. The role must include permissions that grant access to User Advanced Options. Update the role or adjust the role's privileges so that the user has the required API access permissions.

  6. Save the changes. Click Save to apply the updated role settings.

  7. Have the user log out and log back in. Role permission changes take effect on the next login session.

  8. Verify the Access Key is now visible. The user should now see the User Advanced Options section at the bottom of their profile page, with the Access Key field displayed.

Verification / Expected Result

After the role has been updated and the user has logged back in, they should be able to see the User Advanced Options section on their profile page and view their unique alphanumeric API Access Key. The key is immediately active and ready for use.

Escalation

If the Access Key is still not visible after updating the user's role and logging back in, or if you are unsure which role settings are required, contact Dazos Support for assistance. Our team can review the user's permissions and resolve the issue directly.

⚠️ Note: Only an administrator can modify user roles. If you are not an admin, you will need to contact your organization's Dazos administrator to make this change on your behalf.
