Why 'View Report' from a Dashboard Uses the Dashboard Date Filter — and How to Exclude a Report from It (CRM)

Overview

When you click View Report from a dashboard widget, the dashboard's active date filter is automatically applied to the report. This is expected behavior — it ensures the report data matches what you are currently viewing on the dashboard. However, if a report has its own date condition that should take precedence (for example, a report designed to always show tomorrow's intakes), you can configure the report to ignore the dashboard date filter entirely.

Why This Happens

Dashboards in Dazos CRM can have a global date filter set at the dashboard level. When a user clicks View Report on any widget, the system passes the dashboard's current date range into the report so that the data stays consistent with the dashboard view. This means the dashboard date filter will override any date-based conditions configured inside the report itself — unless the report is explicitly excluded from it.

This is not a bug. It is intentional behavior designed to keep report data aligned with what is displayed on the dashboard.

When This Causes a Problem

Some reports are built with their own specific date conditions — for example, a report that filters to tomorrow's intake appointments. When a user clicks View Report on that widget, the dashboard's broader date range overrides the report's internal date condition, causing the report to show a wider set of data than intended.

How to Exclude a Report from the Dashboard Date Filter

To prevent the dashboard date filter from overriding a report's own date conditions, you must enable the Exclude from Dashboard Date Filter setting inside the report builder. Follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Reports in the left sidebar of Dazos CRM.

  2. Locate the report you want to exclude and open it.

  3. Click Modify Report to re-enter the report builder.

  4. Advance to Page 4 of the report builder.

  5. Check the Exclude from Dashboard Date Filter checkbox.

  6. Click Generate Report to save and apply the change.

Once this setting is enabled, clicking View Report from the dashboard will no longer apply the dashboard's date range to this report. The report will use only its own internally configured date conditions.

Summary

Scenario

What Happens

Exclude from Dashboard Date Filter is unchecked (default)

The dashboard's date filter overrides the report's own date conditions when accessed via View Report.

Exclude from Dashboard Date Filter is checked

The report ignores the dashboard date filter and uses only its own internally configured date conditions.

Tips & Notes

  • 💡 Tip: If you have a report that is always meant to show a specific time window (such as next-day appointments or current-week admissions), always enable Exclude from Dashboard Date Filter on page 4 of the report builder.

  • ⚠️ Important: Without this setting, the dashboard date filter will always take precedence over the report's own conditions — even if those conditions are set up correctly in the report's filter logic.

  • 💡 Tip: This setting is configured per report, so you can choose to exclude only specific reports while allowing others to continue inheriting the dashboard date filter.
