Overview

This guide walks you through how to configure a Yahoo Mail account as the outgoing mail server in Dazos so that emails sent from the platform are delivered from your Yahoo email address.

Before You Begin

  • You must have an active Yahoo Mail account.

  • Yahoo does not allow your regular Yahoo password to be used for SMTP with third-party apps. You must generate an App Password.

  • An App Password requires two-step verification to be enabled on your Yahoo account first. If it is not already on, Step 1 will walk you through enabling it.

Steps

Step 1 – Enable Two-Step Verification in Yahoo

This is required before you can generate an App Password. If two-step verification is already on, skip to Step 2.

  1. Sign in to your Yahoo account in a browser.

  2. Click your profile name or icon in the top-right corner and click Account Info.

  3. In the left menu, click Security.

  4. Find Two-step verification and toggle it On.

  5. Follow Yahoo's prompts to verify your phone number and complete setup.

Step 2 – Generate a Yahoo App Password

  1. While still in Yahoo Account Security (same page as Step 1), scroll down to find Generate app password.

  2. Click Generate app password.

  3. In the dropdown, select Other app and type Dazos as the app name.

  4. Click Generate.

  5. Yahoo will display a 16-character App Password. Copy it immediately — it will not be shown again after you leave this screen.

⚠️ Important: Enter this password in Dazos exactly as shown with no spaces added.

Step 3 – Navigate to Outgoing Server Settings in Dazos

  1. Log in to your Dazos CRM.

  2. Click Settings in the main navigation.

  3. Click CRM Settings.

  4. Click Configuration.

  5. Select Outgoing Server.

Step 4 – Enter Your Yahoo SMTP Details

Fill in the Mail Server Settings (SMTP) form as follows:

  • Server Type: Yahoo

  • Server Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

  • User Name: Your full Yahoo email address (e.g., [email protected])

  • Password: The 16-character App Password from Step 2 (no spaces)

  • From Email: Your full Yahoo email address — must match the User Name field

Step 5 – Save

Click Save to apply your settings.

Verification / Expected Result

Trigger a test email in Dazos. Check the recipient's inbox and spam folder to confirm the email arrived from your Yahoo address.

Troubleshooting / Common Errors

  • "Generate app password" option is missing: Two-step verification must be fully enabled before the option appears. Complete Step 1 first.

  • Authentication error in Dazos: You are likely entering your regular Yahoo password. Yahoo blocks regular passwords for SMTP — only App Passwords work. Generate a new one and try again.

  • App Password stopped working: If you recently changed your Yahoo password or security settings, your App Password was invalidated. Generate a new one in Yahoo Account Security and update Dazos.

  • Server name not connecting: Confirm the Server Name is entered as smtp.mail.yahoo.com — it must include mail. before yahoo.com.
