Referral Source Field Locked When Creating New Intake Opportunity for Existing Patient (CRM)

Referral Source Field Locked When Creating New Intake Opportunity for Existing Patient

Purpose

This guide helps resolve issues where the Referral Source field becomes locked and prevents updates when creating new intake opportunities for previous patients (readmission cases).

Symptom/Error

When creating a new intake opportunity for an existing patient:

  • Referral Source field appears greyed out and locked

  • Unable to select or update referral source values

  • System may crash when attempting to access related module lookup windows

  • Issue prevents completion of admissions workflow for readmitted clients

Cause

This issue was caused by a configuration bug in the system's field dependency logic. The Referral Source field was incorrectly inheriting locked status from the existing patient Account record relationship.

Solution

This issue has been resolved by our development team. The fix addresses the underlying field dependency configuration that was causing the lock behavior.

To verify the fix is working:

  1. Navigate to an existing Patient Account record

  2. Click the button to create a New Intake Opportunity

  3. Click on the Referral Source field or other related module lookup fields

  4. Verify that the lookup window opens properly without system crashes

  5. Confirm you can select and save referral source values normally

Current Status

βœ… Fixed: The Referral Source field and all related module fields should now be unlocked, editable, and loading correctly without system errors when creating intake opportunities for existing patients.

When to Contact Support

If you continue experiencing this issue after the fix:

  • The Referral Source field still appears locked when creating new intake opportunities

  • Related module lookup windows fail to open or cause system crashes

  • You cannot complete the admissions workflow for readmitted patients

Contact support immediately and reference this article, as this is a Priority 1 issue that blocks core admissions workflows.
