Before You Begin
Access to the Referral Sources module in your Dazos CRM
Knowledge of the exact naming convention used for your referral sources
Understanding that search behavior is system-wide and cannot be customized per user
Steps
Understanding Search Requirements
Because the Referral Source search requires exact character matches, minor typos will cause the search to fail. This means:
Capitalization must match exactly ("Jordan's" vs "jordan's")
Apostrophes and punctuation must be included
Spacing must match the original entry ("RiverVista" vs "River Vista")
Recommended Search Strategy
Use Keywords Instead of Full Names: Search using the first word or distinctive keywords from the source name rather than the complete name.
Try Single Word Searches: For "Jordan's Crossing," search for "Jordan" instead of "Jordan's Crossing"
Search for Distinctive Parts: For "RiverVista Behavioral Health," try searching for "RiverVista" or "River" (depending on how it's configured)
Use Partial Matches: The system will return all referral sources that contain your search term
Search Examples
Example 1 - Jordan's Crossing:
❌ Searching "jordans crossing" (no results)
✅ Search "Jordan" (will return "Jordan's Crossing")
Example 2 - RiverVista Behavioral Health:
❌ Searching "River Vista" with space (no results if configured as "RiverVista")
✅ Search "River" (will return "RiverVista Behavioral Health")
Verification / Expected Result
When using the keyword search strategy:
Your search should return all referral sources containing the keyword
Results will appear in both the main search bar and filter tabs within the Referral Sources page
You can then select the correct referral source from the returned results
Troubleshooting / Common Errors
⚠️ No Search Results Appearing:
Check that you're using keywords rather than full names
Verify the spelling of your search term
Try searching with just the first word of the referral source name
⚠️ Still Having Issues:
Remember that search behavior cannot be customized for individual users
Consider the naming convention used when the referral source was originally created
Contact your administrator if you need clarification on how specific referral sources are configured
💡 Best Practices
When creating new referral sources, use consistent naming conventions to make future searches easier
Document common keywords or abbreviations for frequently searched referral sources
Train team members on the keyword search strategy to improve efficiency
