Why There Are Two 'Referral Source' Entries in the Report Primary Module Picklist (CRM)

When creating a new report in Dazos CRM, you may notice two separate entries related to referral sources in the Primary Module picklist: Referral Sources and Referral Source. This article explains the difference between these two entries, why both appear,

Why Two Entries Appear

These are two distinct entities in the CRM:

  • Referral Sources — This is the default CRM module. It is the standard module used for managing and reporting on referral source records. This is the correct entry to use when building reports.

  • Referral Source — This is a custom module table. Its appearance in the Primary Module picklist is caused by a legacy feature that allowed the picklist to reference module tables directly. The purpose of this feature was to make data stored within module tables available in reports, since selecting only the parent module did not always provide access to that data.

Because of this legacy behavior, both the default module and the custom module table can appear as separate selectable options in the Primary Module picklist.

Which Entry Should I Use?

Always select Referral Sources (plural) as your Primary Module when building referral source reports. This is the standard CRM module and will return the correct data structure for filtering and reporting.

⚠️ Note: The Referral Source entry (singular) refers to a custom module table, not the default CRM module. Selecting it may not return the results you expect.

How to Remove the Duplicate Entry

The Referral Source custom module table entry cannot be deleted independently from the picklist. It can only be removed in one of the following ways:

  • Delete the corresponding record from the custom module table — this removes that specific entry from the picklist.

  • Delete the custom module table itself — if the table is no longer needed, removing it entirely will also remove its entry from the Primary Module picklist.

⚠️ Warning: Before deleting a custom module table, confirm that it is no longer in use anywhere in your CRM. Deleting a table is permanent and cannot be undone. If you are unsure, contact Dazos Support before proceeding.

Tips & Notes

💡 Tip: If you are unsure whether your custom module table is still being used in reports, workflows, or other areas of the CRM, reach out to Dazos Support before making any changes.

Best Practice: When building any referral source report, use Referral Sources as the Primary Module to ensure accurate and complete data.
