Troubleshooting Mailchimp Tag Sync Issues with Dazos CRM Integration (CRM)

Overview

This guide helps resolve issues when accounts syncing from Dazos CRM to Mailchimp aren't receiving the proper tags, specifically when global tags like 'Accounts' fail to sync automatically.

Symptom/Error

When reviewing contacts in Mailchimp that were synced from Dazos CRM, you notice:

  • Accounts are missing expected tags (such as the 'Accounts' tag)

  • Tags that should be automatically applied during sync are not appearing.

  • Manual resyncing doesn't resolve the missing tag issue

Even though the integration appears to be working (contacts are syncing), the tag mapping is not functioning correctly.

Cause

This issue occurs due to improper tag field mapping in the Mailchimp integration. There are different types of tags in Dazos CRM:

  • Global Tags: Applied at the system level across all modules

  • Module-specific Tags: Applied to individual contact records within specific modules

For tags to sync properly to Mailchimp, they need to be mapped in both the Global Tags section AND the specific module field.

Solution

Follow these steps to resolve the tag mapping issue:

Step 1: Check Current Tag Configuration

Navigate to your Mailchimp integration settings and verify the current tag mapping configuration in the Global Tags section.

Step 2: Verify Module-Level Tag Field

Check that tags are also properly configured in the module-specific tag field. In the examples provided by our product team, tags were missing from this field even though they appeared in the global configuration.

Step 3: Set Up Integration from Scratch (Recommended)

For the most reliable resolution:

  1. Document your current integration settings and field mappings.

  2. Remove the existing Mailchimp integration.

  3. Set up the integration fresh with proper field mapping.

  4. Configure both global tags and module-specific tag fields.

  5. Set up workflows to automatically apply tags (such as automatically tagging accounts as 'Accounts')

Step 4: Test Tag Sync

After reconfiguring:

  1. Create a test account in Dazos CRM.

  2. Ensure the account has the appropriate tags in both global and module-specific fields.

  3. Trigger a sync to Mailchimp.

  4. Verify the tags appear correctly in the Mailchimp contact record

Understanding Tag Types

Global Tags: System-wide tags that can be applied across all modules. These are configured in the main integration settings.

Module-wise Tags: Tags specific to individual contact records within modules like Accounts, Leads, or Contacts. These must be mapped separately from global tags.

šŸ’” Best Practice: Use automated workflows to ensure consistent tag application, such as automatically applying an 'Accounts' tag to all records in the Accounts module.

Escalation

Contact Dazos Support if:

  • You need assistance setting up the integration from scratch.

  • You require help creating automated tagging workflows.

  • Tags still don't sync after following these steps.

  • You need clarification on the difference between global and module-specific tags.

When contacting support, provide:

  • Screenshots of your current tag configuration

  • Examples of contacts missing tags in Mailchimp

  • Confirmation that you've verified both global and module-level tag fields
