The Sort Order enhancement introduces advanced grouping sort functionality for report charts and detail reports in Dazos CRM. Users can now sort grouped report data using both alphabetical and numerical count-based sorting, enabling behavioral health administrators and reporting users to quickly identify highest-performing referral sources, lowest-performing programs, top-performing opportunities, least active records, and grouped metrics in a meaningful order.
This feature applies across all supported chart and grouped report types:
Pie Charts

Before You Begin
You must have access to the Reports module in Dazos CRM.
Ensure you have appropriate reporting permissions to create and modify grouped reports and charts.
Review the available sort options below before configuring your report.
Available Sort Options
Sort Option | Description |
Alphabetical Ascending | Sorts grouped values from A → Z |
Alphabetical Descending | Sorts grouped values from Z → A |
Count Ascending | Sorts from lowest count to highest count |

Steps
Step 1 — Open the Reports Module
Navigate to the Reports module from the left-side navigation menu. This is the main area where users can create, customize, and analyze grouped reports and charts.
Step 2 — Select a Chart Type
Choose a supported chart type such as:
Pie Chart
Vertical Bar Chart
Horizontal Bar Chart
Funnel Chart
Summary Chart
The new sort functionality is available across all supported grouping chart types.

Step 3 — Configure the Group By Field
Under the Select GroupBy Field section, choose the field that should group your report data. Examples include Levels of Care, Referral Source, Opportunity Type, or Sales Stage.
A new Sort Order dropdown is now available beside the grouping field.
Step 4 — Select Alphabetical Ascending
Choose Alphabetical Ascending when you want grouped data displayed in standard alphabetical order from A to Z. This option is useful for easy lookup and organized viewing.
Step 5 — Generate and Verify the Report (Alphabetical Ascending)
Click Generate Graph or Save Graph to apply the selected sorting configuration. The report will now display records sorted alphabetically in ascending order.
Expected Result: Grouped values appear in A → Z order across the report or chart.
Step 6 — Select Alphabetical Descending
Choose Alphabetical Descending to display grouped data from Z to A. This helps users quickly review records in reverse alphabetical order.
Step 7 — Verify Descending Results
After generating the report, verify that grouped values are displayed correctly in descending alphabetical order.
Expected Result: Grouped values appear in Z → A order across the report or chart.
Step 8 — Configure Count Ascending
Choose Count Ascending when you want to display groups with the smallest number of records first. This is useful for identifying low-performing programs or underutilized referral sources.
Step 9 — Verify Count Ascending Results
Generate the report and confirm that groups are ordered from the lowest count value to the highest count value.
Expected Result: Groups with the fewest records appear at the top; groups with the most records appear at the bottom.
Step 10 — Configure Count Descending
Select Count Descending to display the highest-count grouped records first. This option is especially useful for performance analysis and identifying top-performing categories.
Step 11 — Verify Count Descending Results
Generate the report and confirm that the highest-count records appear at the top of the grouped report.
Expected Result: Groups with the most records appear at the top; groups with the fewest records appear at the bottom.
Step 12 — Sorting in Bar Charts
The same sorting functionality also applies to bar chart visualizations. Users can apply alphabetical or numerical sorting directly within the chart configuration using the Sort Order dropdown.
Step 13 — Sorting in Horizontal Charts
Horizontal charts fully support the new sorting enhancement. This ensures consistent sorting behavior across all chart visualization types.
Step 14 — Sorting in Funnel Charts
Funnel charts support Count Ascending and Count Descending sorting to help users analyze conversion stages more effectively.
Step 15 — Sorting in Pie Charts
Pie chart segments and legend values will display according to the selected sort order, helping users quickly identify the highest and lowest grouped counts.
Verification / Expected Result
After completing configuration for any chart type:
The grouped report or chart displays data in the selected sort order.
Regenerating the report after changing the sort order reflects the updated configuration immediately.
Sort behavior is consistent across all supported chart types — Pie, Bar, Horizontal Bar, Funnel, Summary, and Detail Reports.
Best Practices
Use Count Descending to identify top-performing referral sources or programs.
Use Count Ascending to identify low-performing or underutilized records.
Use Alphabetical sorting for structured, readable reports where logical order matters more than volume.
Always regenerate the report after changing sort order settings to apply the updated configuration.
Use grouped reports for deeper analytical insights when comparing categories or segments.
Important Notes
Existing alphabetical sorting functionality remains unchanged.
If multiple groups have identical counts, the system applies alphabetical sorting as secondary logic.
Sorting functionality is supported across grouped detail reports and summarized tables.
The feature supports large datasets without impacting report performance.
Troubleshooting / Common Errors
Sort order not updating after selection → Ensure you click Generate Graph or Save Graph after selecting the sort option. Changes do not apply until the report is regenerated.
Alphabetical and Count sort behaving the same → This may occur when all groups have a record count of 1. In this case, both Count and Alphabetical sorting will appear identical. Verify the data by reviewing the raw report view.
Sort option not available for a specific chart type → Confirm the chart type is among the supported types (Pie, Bar, Horizontal Bar, Funnel, Summary, or Detail Report). Line Charts and Colored Counters do not support the Sort Order dropdown.
