Troubleshooting Unclickable Dropdown Fields - Field Permissions Issue (CRM)

Purpose

This guide helps you resolve issues where dropdown fields appear unclickable or uneditable, with no pencil (edit) icon visible next to the field.

Symptom/Error

You may notice the following symptoms:

  • Dropdown fields (like Lead Source or Referral Source) are completely unclickable

  • No pencil (edit) icon appears next to the field

  • The issue affects all users across your organization

  • Fields appear "greyed out" or non-interactive

Cause

This issue is typically caused by incorrect field-level permissions that prevent users from editing specific dropdown fields, even if they have access to the record itself.

Solution

This issue requires administrator-level access to resolve. If you're not an admin, contact your system administrator or Dazos support.

For Administrators:

  1. Navigate to your field-level permissions settings

  2. Locate the affected dropdown fields (e.g., Lead Source, Referral Source)

  3. Verify that the appropriate user roles have "Edit" permissions for these fields

  4. Adjust permissions as needed to allow editing

  5. Save your changes

After Permission Changes:

  1. Instruct all affected users to log out of their Dazos accounts completely

  2. Have users log back in to refresh their session permissions

  3. Test the dropdown fields to confirm they're now editable with pencil icons visible

When to Contact Support

Contact Dazos support if:

  • You don't have administrator access to modify field permissions

  • Field permissions appear correct but the issue persists after logout/login

  • The problem affects multiple modules or field types

  • You need guidance on proper permission configuration
