'Add Widget' Button Grayed Out on Dashboard — Fix Using Administrator Profile Settings (CRM)

Overview

A user with the correct roles — such as Executive and Admin — cannot click the Add Widget button on the dashboard. The button appears grayed out and is unresponsive, even though:

  • Dashboard Role Settings have been reviewed and appear correctly configured.

  • The correct role and dashboard name are assigned in Settings → User Management → Dashboard Role Settings.

  • The user can view the dashboard and its data normally.

  • Logging out and back in does not resolve the issue.

Cause

This issue is caused by a problem at the administrator profile settings level, which is a separate permission layer from Dashboard Role Settings. Even if the dashboard create, edit, view, and delete checkboxes appear to be checked in the administrator profile, they may not be registering correctly. This prevents the Add Widget button from becoming active for affected users.

This is distinct from the Dashboard Role Settings issue described in Users Can't Edit Dashboard Widgets — How to Fix with Dashboard Role Settings (CRM). If you have already verified Dashboard Role Settings and the button is still grayed out, this profile-level fix is the next step.

Solution

An administrator must locate the affected user's profile settings and toggle the dashboard permissions — unchecking and then rechecking them — to force them to register correctly. Follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to Dazos CRM as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Settings → User Management and open the affected user's profile.

  3. Locate the administrator profile permission checkboxes for the dashboard — specifically the create, edit, view, and delete options.

  4. Even if these checkboxes appear to be checked, uncheck all of them.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Reopen the user's profile settings.

  7. Recheck the create, edit, view, and delete dashboard permission checkboxes.

  8. Click Save again.

  9. Ask the affected user to refresh their browser and attempt to add a widget to the dashboard.

Expected Result

After toggling and saving the permissions, the Add Widget button will become active and the user can add reports to the dashboard.

Important: Two Separate Permission Layers

Dashboard access in Dazos CRM is controlled by two distinct settings. If the Add Widget button is grayed out, both layers should be checked:

If Dashboard Role Settings are correctly configured but the button is still grayed out, the administrator profile settings toggle is the fix to apply.

Escalation

If toggling and saving the administrator profile permissions does not restore the Add Widget button, contact Dazos Support and provide the following:

  • The affected user's name and assigned role(s)

  • The name of the dashboard where the button is grayed out

  • Confirmation that Dashboard Role Settings have been reviewed

  • Confirmation that the profile-level permission toggle has been attempted

  • Your CRM instance URL
