How to Control Which PAA Type a Field Appears On Using Facility Selection (CRM)

When working with multiple PAA types in the Dazos CRM Layout Editor, you may notice that adding or moving a field in one PAA type's layout also affects another PAA type.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Administrative access to CRM Settings

  • At least two PAA types already created (for example, a Standard Assessment and an Anchorage Assessment)

  • The fields you want to isolate already added to the PAA module

Overview

This is because fields in the PAA module exist in a shared pool — they are not inherently owned by a single PAA type.

To control which PAA type a field appears on, you must select the facility (location/version) within each individual field. This is the correct and only supported method for restricting a field to a specific PAA type.

Important: Fields cannot be freely moved between PAA type page layouts. Once a field is placed in a position within the layout, it must stay in that position. Layout arrangement changes (adding, moving, or removing fields) will affect all PAA types that share that field unless facility selection is used to restrict visibility.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Navigate to Settings → CRM Settings → Module Management → Module Layouts & Fields and open the Pre Assessment module.

  2. Step 2: In the Layout Editor, use the Select Picklist Value dropdown at the top to select the PAA type you are working with (for example, Anchorage Assessment).

  3. Step 3: Locate the field you want to restrict to this specific PAA type. Open the field's settings or properties.

  4. Step 4: Within the field settings, find the facility (location/version) selector. Select the specific facility or PAA type this field should appear on. This is the key step — without selecting the facility here, the field will appear across all PAA types.

  5. Step 5: Repeat this process for each field you want to restrict. Each field must have its facility selection configured individually.

  6. Step 6: Save your changes and verify that the field now appears only on the intended PAA type by reviewing both layouts.

Result

After completing these steps, the fields with a facility selected will only appear on the PAA type associated with that facility. Fields that do not have a facility selected will continue to appear across all PAA types.

Important Notes

Fields are shared across PAA types by default. Simply creating a field — whether from the global Module Fields area or from within the Layout Editor — does not isolate it to one PAA type. The facility selection within each field is what controls visibility.

Layout position changes affect all PAA types sharing that field. If you move a field to a different position in the layout, that positional change will be reflected wherever that field appears. Fields must remain in a fixed position in the layout and cannot be freely rearranged between PAA types.

The PAA type dropdown in the Layout Editor controls what you are viewing, not what is being saved exclusively. Selecting a specific PAA type in the Select Picklist Value dropdown does not automatically isolate your changes to that version only — you must also configure facility selection at the field level.

If you need the same field in different orders across PAA types, be aware that field placement is fixed. Plan your layout structure carefully before adding fields, as repositioning will affect all PAA types that include that field.
