How to Create a Second PAA Version Using a Custom PAA Type Picklist Field (CRM)

How to Create a Second PAA Version Using a Custom PAA Type Picklist Field

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Super Admin or Administrator access to Dazos CRM

  • Access to CRM Settings → Module Management

  • An existing Pre-Assessment (PAA) configured in your instance

Overview

By default, your Dazos CRM instance may only have a single PAA version configured, and a PAA Type picklist field may not exist yet. Before you can create a second version of your Pre-Assessment — for example, to test a differently styled layout — you must first create a Picklist field to hold the PAA type values. Once that field exists, you can assign fields to each PAA version and use the Copy button in the Layout Editor to duplicate your existing configuration.

Important: If you do not see a "PAA Type" picklist anywhere in your settings, this is expected. It means the field has not been created yet and must be added manually under Module Management. This is not a permissions issue — even Super Admins will not see this picklist until the field is created.

Steps

  1. Create the PAA Type Picklist field: Navigate to Settings → CRM Settings → Module Management. Locate the Pre-Assessment module and create a new Picklist field to serve as the PAA Type selector. If you do not have the ability to create this field yourself, contact Dazos Support and request that a PAA Type Picklist field be added to your Pre-Assessment module.

  2. Add values to the PAA Type picklist: Once the Picklist field exists, add a value for each PAA version you want to use. For example:

    • Pre-Assessment — your existing/original version

    • PAA-Copy — your new test version

Each value represents a separate, independent PAA version.

  3. Assign fields to each PAA version: Go through the fields in your Pre-Assessment module and assign each field to the appropriate PAA type/version. This step is done individually — there is no bulk option available. Assigning fields to a specific version ensures that changes to one version do not affect the other.

  4. Open the Layout Editor: Navigate to Settings → CRM Settings → Module Management → Pre-Assessment → Layout Editor.

  5. Select the PAA version you want to copy from: In the Layout Editor, use the dropdown or selector at the top to choose the PAA version you want to use as your source (e.g., Pre-Assessment).

  6. Use the Copy button to copy field configuration: With the source PAA version selected, click the Copy button on the right side of the Layout Editor. This will copy the field configuration from the selected PAA type to the second version (e.g., PAA-Copy).

  7. Edit the new version: Select the new PAA version from the dropdown in the Layout Editor and make your desired changes — rearranging fields, updating styling, or modifying the layout — without affecting the original version.

Result

After completing these steps, you will have two independent PAA versions in your Dazos CRM. Changes made to one version will not affect the other, allowing you to safely test a new layout or format alongside your current live Pre-Assessment. When you are ready, you can switch to the new version or continue running both.

Important Notes

  • The PAA Type Picklist field must be created first. If it does not already exist in your instance, the Layout Editor will not offer multiple PAA versions to work with. Contact Dazos Support if you need this field created.

  • Field assignment is not available in bulk. You must assign each field to its appropriate PAA version individually.

  • Versions are independent once fields are assigned. Editing fields or layout in one PAA version will not carry over to other versions.

  • Admin access is required. You must have Super Admin or Administrator-level access to create Picklist fields and edit module layouts.

Still Need Help?

If the PAA Type Picklist field does not exist in your instance and you are unable to create it yourself, contact Dazos Support. A support agent can create the field and add the initial PAA type values on the backend so you can proceed with the steps above.
