Segment Preview Now Matches the Campaign Count (iCampaign)

When a segment condition has several options selected (for example Contact Type Belongs To "Referral Source" and "Referral Contact"), Preview Matching Subscribers now counts the subscribers of every selected option.

The number in the preview matches the number you see next to the segment when you select it in a campaign.

5. Frequently Asked Questions

1. Before You Start

You will need:

  • A segment based on conditions, or permission to create one.

  • Permission to create campaigns to compare the count.

Access requirements: anyone who can edit segments can use the preview. There is nothing to turn on.

If you don't see Segments in the menu, contact Dazo support so they can check your role.

2. Open Your Segment

From iCampaign, go to Email & SMS → Segments. Open a segment based on conditions, or click New Segment to create one.

3. Preview the Matching Subscribers

Conditions can go in two groups:

Group

Meaning

All of the Conditions

A subscriber must meet every condition in this group

Any of the Conditions

A subscriber must meet at least one condition in this group

1. Add or review your conditions. A condition such as Contact Type – Belongs To can have several options selected.

2. Click Preview Matching Subscribers.

3. Scroll to the line under the table, showing 1 to 25 of N entries. N is the number of people in the segment.

Tip: Every option you select in a Belongs To condition counts. In the example above, both "Referral Source" and "Referral Contact" subscribers are included, for a total of 74.

4. Check the Count in a Campaign

1. Go to Campaigns → Create and continue to Sending options.

2. Set Subscriber Type to Segments and select your segment.

3. The number in brackets next to the segment is the same N you saw in the preview.

Below the segment, you see two counters:

Counter

What it counts

Email

Recipients

Segment members who can receive email. People who unsubscribed from email are left out.

SMS Recipients

Segment members who can receive SMS, that is, those with a phone number.

A person can be in both counters. Together they cover everyone in the segment.

Important: Email Recipients can be lower than the segment number. That is expected when some members unsubscribed from email but can still receive SMS.

5. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to re-create my existing segments? No. The people saved in your segments were always correct. Only the preview count was wrong, and now it matches.

Q: Does the preview change who receives my campaign? No. The campaign sends to the people saved in the segment, as before.

Q: I run the preview twice. Will I get the same number? Yes, as long as the segment and your contacts have not changed in between.

Q: Why can the numbers differ slightly on a segment I saved a long time ago? The preview checks your contacts right now. The campaign uses the segment's saved members, which update as contacts change. Right after an import or a large update, the two can be briefly out of step. Save the segment again to refresh it.

Q: Does this also apply to workflows and drip campaigns? Yes. The subscriber previews in the workflow form and the drip campaign wizard count every selected option too.

Need Help?

If you run into issues:

1. Click Preview Matching Subscribers again and note the number.

2. Save the segment and select it again in the campaign.

3. Contact Dazo's support with both numbers and the segment name, and reference ICD-1610.
