Product FAQ: Readmitting a Patient Between Dazos and Kipu(CRM)

This FAQ explains how patient readmissions work between Dazos and Kipu EMRs and why the Readmit button may or may not appear depending on how the patient record was originally created.

Updated over 2 months ago

Q: Why don’t I see the Readmit button in Kipu for a patient?

A: The Readmit button only appears when the patient record and admission workflow were originally created in Dazos and then pushed to Kipu.

If the patient was imported from Kipu into Dazos without an opportunity ever created in Dazos, the Readmit button won’t appear — and that’s expected behavior.

Q: What is the difference between readmissions for imported vs. native records?

A:

  • Imported from Kipu into Dazos

    • Readmit button will not appear in Kipu

    • Manual processes are required

  • Originally created in Dazos and pushed to Kipu

    • Readmit button will appear

    • Readmission is automated and linked

Q: How do I readmit a patient that was imported from Kipu?

A:

  1. Create the readmission in Kipu

    • Log into Kipu EMR

    • Manually create a new readmission for the patient

  2. Create or locate the Dazos opportunity

    • In Dazos, find the patient account

    • Create a new opportunity (or use an existing one)

  3. Manually link the records

    • Tie the Dazos opportunity to the readmission created in Kipu

  4. Verify the link

    • Make sure the Dazos opportunity is connected

    • Confirm documents and updates sync correctly

⚠️ The absence of the Readmit button for imported records is normal and not an error.

Q: How do I readmit a patient that was originally created in Dazos?

A:

  1. Create a new opportunity in Dazos

    • Go to the patient’s account

    • Create a readmission opportunity

  2. Push the opportunity to Kipu

    • Use the integration to send the opportunity

  3. Use the Readmit button in Kipu

    • Open the patient record in Kipu

    • Select Readmit

  4. Automatic linking

    • The readmission in Kipu links automatically to the Dazos opportunity

Q: What should I do if I still don’t see the Readmit button?

A:

  • Check whether the patient was imported from Kipu originally

  • If so, follow the manual readmission process

  • Always confirm after readmission that the records are properly linked
