(INTERNAL) Why Creating Tasks via Workflow Isn't Available for Call History Module (CRM)

Creating tasks via workflow is not currently available when targeting the Call History module as the primary trigger. This limitation exists because task creation was not included in the original development scope for the Call History module.

Why This Matters

Some organizations prefer to work from a centralized calendar view for their daily tasks rather than switching between different modules. When call logs are created from external sources like CallRail, users may want automatic task creation to maintain a single workflow pane.

Current Limitations

When setting up workflows with Call History as the target module, you'll notice that:

  • Most other record types can be created through workflow actions

  • Tasks are specifically excluded from the available workflow actions

  • No automatic updates occur on related lead or account records when calls are logged

Available Workflow Actions for Call History

While task creation isn't available, the Call History module supports other workflow actions for automation. The module was primarily designed to track inbound and outbound call activities rather than for task management.

Requesting This Feature

If your organization needs the ability to create tasks via workflow from Call History records, you can submit a feature enhancement request. This type of request helps the development team prioritize new functionality based on customer needs.

To request this feature:

  1. Contact Dazos Support

  2. Explain your specific use case and workflow requirements

  3. Request that task creation be added to the Call History workflow actions

Alternative Solutions

While waiting for this feature enhancement, consider these workarounds:

  • Create tasks manually when reviewing call logs

  • Set up workflows on related Lead or Account records instead

  • Use other available workflow actions to automate different aspects of your call tracking
