SMS Opt-In Compliance: Twilio-Approved Consent Flow (iCampaign)

Overview Your organization's public policy pages and subscriber preference center have been updated to meet Twilio's SMS compliance requirements.

Before You Begin

  • Your organization's legal business name must be entered in the iCampaign client record — it must match your Twilio-registered business name exactly

  • No additional setup or configuration is required — changes take effect automatically once deployed

  • Policy pages are publicly accessible with no login required

⚠️ Note: If your legal business name is not displaying correctly on policy pages, contact Dazos Support to verify the business name on file for your account.

Your Public SMS Compliance Page (/usecase)

Your compliance page is available at: icpolicies.[yourdomain]/usecase

This page is submitted to Twilio during campaign registration and may be reviewed by carrier compliance teams. It covers the following sections:

  • Program Information — legal business name, program name, and customer care contact

  • Sign-Up Agreement Language — standard disclosure shown at every opt-in point

  • Campaign Registration — description of your SMS program and example messages

  • Opt-In Process — four documented opt-in methods with required disclosure language

  • Opt-Out Process — all supported opt-out keywords and confirmation language

Opt-In Methods Documented

Method

How It Works

Phone / CRM Entry (Verbal)

Representative states required disclosure during intake; consent logged in CRM

Email Link / Web Form

Subscriber checks an unchecked-by-default checkbox in the preference center

Keyword START

Subscriber texts START to your number; system sends a confirmation reply

Signed Document / Paper Form

Subscriber signs a physical or electronic intake form with a standalone, un-pre-checked consent clause

⚠️ Important: For the paper form method, the SMS consent clause must appear as a standalone checkbox or signature field. It must never be pre-checked or bundled with other terms.

Opt-Out Keywords

The following keywords are all supported for opt-out:

STOP · STOPALL · UNSUBSCRIBE · CANCEL · END · QUIT · REVOKE

When a subscriber sends any of these keywords, the system immediately stops messages and sends a confirmation reply.

Terms of Service & Privacy Policy Pages

Your organization's legal name now appears on all three public policy pages:

Page

URL

Terms of Service

icpolicies.[yourdomain]/terms

Privacy Policy

icpolicies.[yourdomain]/privacy

SMS Consent & Compliance

icpolicies.[yourdomain]/usecase

💡 Tip: Before submitting your Twilio campaign registration, visit your /usecase page and confirm your legal business name appears correctly in the Business Name field and throughout all consent disclosures.

Subscriber Communication Preference Center

Every email sent through iCampaign includes an unsubscribe link. When a subscriber clicks it, they land on the Communication Preference Center where they can manage Email and SMS subscriptions independently.

Key improvements to the preference center:

  • Channel cards — Email and SMS appear as separate labeled cards

  • Compliance disclosure — full SMS consent language appears directly below the SMS checkbox

  • Business name — your workspace name is shown in the page heading and disclosure text

  • Clearer language — checkboxes now read "I want to receive messages from [Your Organization]"

💡 Tip: Subscribers already opted in will see their current subscriptions checked. Saving the form with a box unchecked is treated as an opt-out request.

What Changed and Why

Twilio rejected SMS campaign registrations for two reasons:

  • Insufficient consent language — disclosures did not include the required elements: sending organization name, message frequency notice, data rates notice, and STOP/HELP instructions at every opt-in touchpoint

  • Pre-selected consent checkboxes — CTIA guidelines prohibit treating a pre-checked box as valid consent

⚠️ Note: No changes were made to how SMS messages are sent or scheduled. This update affects only the compliance documentation pages and the subscriber preference center layout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to re-register my Twilio campaign after this update?
If your campaign was previously rejected or is pending review, yes — resubmit with the updated /usecase URL. If your campaign is already approved and active, no action is required.

Q: Where does the legal business name come from?
It is read from your iCampaign client record (the legal_name field). If incorrect or missing, the system falls back to your account domain. Contact Dazos Support to update your legal name.

Q: What if I use a paper intake form — what do I need to change?
Your form must include a standalone SMS consent checkbox or signature field. It must not be pre-checked, must not be bundled with other terms, and must include the exact disclosure language shown in Section 4 of your /usecase page.

Q: Can subscribers still opt out by replying STOP?
Yes. Replying STOP (or any of the seven supported opt-out keywords) immediately stops further SMS messages and sends a confirmation reply. This behavior has not changed.

Q: The page shows my domain instead of my business name — what do I do?
The legal_name field is not set in your client record. Contact Dazos Support with your registered legal business name and it will be updated immediately.

Q: Are these pages indexed by search engines?
The policy pages are publicly accessible. If you do not want them indexed, your web team can add a robots.txt rule for the icpolicies subdomain.
