Generate AI Content Directly Inside the Email Builder (ICampaign)

Learn how to use the Generate content AI action in the iCampaign email builder. Select any text block, describe what you need, and the AI will draft copy using your template as context to ensure consistent tone and style.

Overview

The iCampaign email builder now includes a Generate content AI action. Select any text block in your email template, describe what you want written, and the AI will draft copy for you — using the rest of your template as context to keep tone and style consistent. The result appears in a preview so you can accept or discard it before it touches your template.

1. Before You Start

You will need:

  • An active iCampaign account with access to the Campaigns module.

  • A campaign in Draft status with at least one email template assigned.

  • The campaign must use the iCampaign Studio (GrapesJS) email builder.

Access requirements: Any user who can edit a campaign's email content can use this feature. No additional role or permission is required beyond what you already have to open the email builder.

⚠️ Note: If the AI Suggestion panel is not visible on the right side when you click a text block, contact Dazos support to confirm that AI features are enabled for your instance.

2. Open the Email Builder

  1. From the left navigation, click Campaigns.

  2. Find the campaign you want to edit and click its action button (the icon at the left of the row).

  3. Select Edit from the menu.

  4. On the campaign edit page, click Next through the Campaign Information and Template Selection steps until you reach Edit Content.

The iCampaign Studio (email builder) will load, showing your template on the canvas.

3. Select a Text Block and Open the AI Panel

Click any text block on the canvas to select it. A blue selection toolbar appears above the block, and the Properties panel on the right updates to show AI Suggestion options.

💡 Tip: You must click a text block specifically to see the AI Suggestion panel. Clicking a layout column, image, or button block will not show AI options.

4. Choose "Generate content" and Describe Your Copy

  1. In the AI Suggestion dropdown on the right panel, click — Select an option — to open the action list.

  2. Select ✏️ Generate content (the second option in the list).

  3. The Generate Content dialog appears.

  4. In the textarea, type a description of the content you want. Be as specific as you like.

  5. Click Generate. A loading indicator appears while the AI processes your request. The existing text in your template is automatically sent as context — you do not need to copy it manually.

Field

Description

Example

Description textarea

Plain-English instruction for the AI.

Write a closing call-to-action encouraging readers to register for our upcoming webinar.

💡 Tip: The more specific your description, the better the result. Instead of "Write something about our program," try "Write two sentences about our 30-day outpatient program that emphasize community support and family involvement."

5. Review and Accept the Result

After the AI finishes, a preview dialog shows the generated text alongside your original content.

Control

Purpose

Accept

Replaces the selected text block's content with the AI-generated text.

Discard

Closes the preview without changing anything.

If you accept and change your mind, press Ctrl + Z (or Cmd + Z on Mac) to undo.

You can run Generate content as many times as you like on the same block until you are satisfied with the result.

When done editing, click Save in the builder toolbar, then click Next to proceed to Preview & Send.

⚠️ Important: The AI uses the visible text already in your template as context. If your template is mostly images or empty placeholders, the generated copy may be more generic. Add at least a few text blocks with your core message before using Generate content for the best results.

6. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use Generate content on any block in the template?

Yes — it works on any text block in the iCampaign Studio builder. Select the block first, then choose Generate content from the AI Suggestion dropdown.

Q: Does the AI see my entire template or just the selected block?

The AI receives all visible text from every text block in the template as context, not just the selected one. This helps it match the tone and theme of your existing copy.

Q: What if the generated text is too long or off-topic?

Click Discard to dismiss the preview and try again with a more specific description. You can also accept the text and edit it manually in the block.

Q: Is there a character limit on my description?

Yes — the description field accepts up to 500 characters. Aim for a clear, concise instruction rather than a long paragraph.

Q: Will using Generate content overwrite my existing text?

Only if you click Accept. Until then, your original text is untouched. You can also undo immediately after accepting with Ctrl + Z.

Q: What languages does the AI support?

The AI can generate content in most major languages. If you need copy in a specific language, include that in your description (e.g., "Write this in Spanish").

Q: Can I use Generate content in the SMS template tab?

No — Generate content is available in the Email Template builder only. The SMS tab uses a separate text field and does not have the AI Suggestion panel.

Need Help?

If you run into issues:

  1. Check that you have a text block selected — the AI Suggestion panel only appears for text blocks.

  2. Try refreshing the page and re-opening the campaign builder.

  3. Contact Dazos support with a description of what you were trying to do and reference ICD-1307.
