⚠️ Important: Deleting a Referral Source will also permanently remove any related Opportunities and Quotes. Make sure this is intentional before proceeding.
Before You Begin
You must have access to User Management in Dazos CRM to update user settings.
Only a designated administrator at your organization can change the Customer Admin setting for a user.
A user can only delete Referral Source records that are assigned to themselves. Records assigned to another user (such as Dazos Administrator) must be reassigned first.
Step 1: Enable Customer Admin for the User
To allow a user to delete Referral Sources, their Customer Admin setting must be set to Yes in User Management.
Log in to Dazos CRM as an administrator.
Navigate to Settings → User Management.
Find and click on the user who needs delete permissions.
Locate the Customer Admin field in their user profile.
Change the value to Yes.
Save the changes.
💡 Tip: Repeat this process for each user who needs to delete Referral Sources. In the support case above, both Erinn and Heather required this setting to be updated individually.
Step 2: Reassign the Referral Source (If Assigned to Another User)
Even with Customer Admin enabled, a user can only delete records assigned to themselves. If a Referral Source is assigned to a different user — such as Dazos Administrator — it must be reassigned before it can be deleted.
Open the Referral Source record you want to delete.
Click Edit on the record.
Find the Assigned To field and change it to the user who will be performing the deletion.
Save the record.
The assigned user can now delete the record.
⚠️ Warning: Remember that deleting the Referral Source will also delete any related Opportunities and Quotes tied to that record. Confirm this is the intended outcome before deleting.
Verification / Expected Result
After completing both steps above, the user should be able to delete Referral Sources that are assigned to them without receiving a "Permission Denied" error. If the error persists, verify that:
The Customer Admin field is set to Yes (not just a role permission update).
The Referral Source record's Assigned To field matches the user attempting the deletion.
Troubleshooting / Common Errors
⚠️ "Error Permission Denied" after admin grants permissions: Standard role/permission changes alone are not sufficient. The Customer Admin setting (set to Yes in User Management) is specifically required for deleting Referral Sources.
⚠️ User still cannot delete after Customer Admin is enabled: Check whether the Referral Source is assigned to another user (e.g., Dazos Administrator). Reassign the record to the user before attempting deletion.
⚠️ Multiple users affected: Each user requires the Customer Admin setting updated individually. One change does not apply to all users.
