File Upload Fields from Webforms Cannot Be Mapped to (CRM) Lead Records

Overview

Dazos CRM's webform and webhook integration does not currently support mapping document or file upload fields to Lead records. If your webform includes a file upload field, any files submitted by the form user will not appear on the created Lead record in the CRM.

When This Applies

You will encounter this limitation if you are using a webform (such as a Gravity Forms form embedded on your website) that includes one or more document or file upload fields, and you expect those files to automatically attach to the Lead record created in Dazos CRM upon submission.

This applies to all webform and webhook configurations set up under Settings → CRM Settings → Automation → Webform/Webhooks.

What Currently Happens

When a webform is submitted, the CRM creates a Lead record and populates it with the field values that have been mapped in the Webform/Webhook configuration. However, document and file upload fields are not a supported field type for mapping.

  • Only standard field types — such as text fields, dropdowns, and similar input types — can be mapped to Lead record fields.

  • Any files attached by the form submitter are dropped at the point of submission.

  • No file or document will appear on the resulting Lead record in the CRM.

  • This is not a configuration error — it is a current platform limitation that affects all instances.

⚠️ Important: There is no workaround or configuration change that will cause file upload fields to populate on a Lead record at this time. This behavior cannot be resolved by adjusting your Webform/Webhook field mapping settings.

What You Can Do in the Meantime

While this feature is not yet supported, here are steps you can take to manage document collection manually:

  • Notify your team: Make your admissions or intake staff aware that documents submitted via webform will not automatically attach to leads. A manual follow-up step will be required to collect and attach any necessary files.

  • Request documents after lead creation: Once a Lead record is created in the CRM, staff can follow up with the referral source or submitter directly to obtain the required documents and attach them manually to the record.

  • Update your webform (optional): Consider adding a note to your webform advising submitters to send documents separately (e.g., via email), so they are aware their uploaded files may need to be resubmitted through another channel.

Feature Request Status

This limitation has been formally submitted to the Dazos product team as a feature request. The requested enhancement would extend the existing Leads field mapping to support file upload fields, allowing attached documents to flow directly into the CRM Lead record upon form submission — the same way standard text and dropdown fields are mapped today.

💡 Note: Submitting a feature request does not guarantee the feature will be built. Our development roadmap is planned quarters in advance and is prioritized based on the volume and frequency of customer requests. If this feature is prioritized, our team will reach out with updates.

If this limitation significantly impacts your intake or referral workflow, contact Dazos Support to add your voice to the feature request and provide details about your use case.
