Overview
This guide explains why the system-level Lead Source field (or a renamed version of it, such as "First Contact") may continue to display on Accounts and Intake Opportunities records even after being hidden in the Layout Editor — and what to do about it.
Symptom / Error
You may be experiencing one or more of the following issues:
A field named "First Contact" (a renamed system Lead Source field) continues to appear on Accounts and Intake Opportunities records even after it has been marked as hidden in the Layout Editor.
A newly created custom "Lead Source" field is not populating in the Marketing Info block on Accounts or Intake Opportunities.
The custom Lead Source field is not mapping correctly from Leads → Accounts → Intake Opportunities, causing report discrepancies.
Cause
This issue typically occurs when a CRM instance is cloned from another instance where the original system Lead Source field was renamed (e.g., renamed to "First Contact"). Because this is a system-level field, it behaves differently from custom fields:
The system Lead Source field cannot be fully hidden through the Layout Editor alone — it may continue to display on records even when marked as hidden.
Creating a new custom field with the name "Lead Source" does not replace the system field. The custom field will not automatically populate in the Marketing Info block or map correctly across modules.
This is a known limitation specific to instances where the original system Lead Source field was renamed during cloning.
⚠️ Note: Attempting to work around this by creating a custom Lead Source field and manually importing/mapping values will not resolve the underlying issue and may further disrupt reporting.
Solution
This issue cannot be resolved through the Layout Editor or by creating additional custom fields. The system Lead Source field must be properly restored or remapped at the backend level by the Dazos support team.
Stop making further changes to the Layout Editor or creating additional custom Lead Source fields — these actions will not fix the issue and may complicate the restoration process.
Contact Dazos Support and submit a support request to have the system Lead Source field restored or remapped on the affected modules (Accounts and Intake Opportunities).
When contacting support, provide the following information:
Your CRM instance name/URL
The name of the field currently displaying (e.g., "First Contact")
Confirmation that your instance was cloned from another instance where the original Lead Source field was renamed
The modules affected (Accounts, Intake Opportunities)
Screenshots showing the field appearing on records despite being hidden in the Layout Editor
Details of any custom fields you created in an attempt to work around the issue
Await confirmation from the support team that the system Lead Source field has been properly restored and remapped across the affected modules.
Verification / Expected Result
After the support team resolves the issue, you should see the following:
The system Lead Source field displays correctly and consistently on Accounts and Intake Opportunities records.
The Marketing Info block populates the Lead Source field as expected.
Lead Source data maps correctly from Leads → Accounts → Intake Opportunities.
Reports that rely on the Lead Source field reflect accurate data.
Escalation
Contact Dazos Support immediately if you are experiencing this issue. This requires backend intervention to restore or remap the system Lead Source field — it cannot be self-resolved through the Layout Editor or field configuration settings.
⚠️ Important: Do not delete the renamed system field (e.g., "First Contact") or any custom fields you may have created before speaking with support. The support team will need to review the current configuration to properly restore the field.
