Frequently Asked Questions
1. Before You Start
You will need:
Insurance Discovery enabled for your CRM instance (the "Run Insurance Discovery" toggle appears on your lead and VOB forms).
Available iVerify credits — each Discovery search uses credits, exactly as before.
Access to Leads and/or VOBs, depending on where you run Discovery.
Access requirements: any user who could run Insurance Discovery before can use this improvement — there are no new roles, permissions, or settings.
If you don't see the "Run Insurance Discovery" toggle on your forms, the feature isn't enabled for your instance — contact Dazos support.
2. What Changed in Insurance Discovery
Discovery has always searched using the patient's name, date of birth, and state. It now also sends:
Field | When it is included | Where it comes from |
Gender | When it's filled in on the form or saved on the patient's record | The Gender field on the lead form, Convert Lead form, Contact, or Lead |
SSN | When a valid 9-digit SSN is saved on the patient's record | The SSN saved on the Contact or Lead — found automatically, whatever your instance calls the field |
If either value is missing, Discovery simply runs the way it always has — nothing is blocked, and no new error messages appear.
💡 Tip: Gender matters most for Medicaid patients — pVerify treats it as effectively required for Medicaid matches. Filling it in before running Discovery gives the best results.
3. Running Discovery from Submit New Lead
From the CRM, navigate to iVerify → Submit New Lead. Fill in the patient's details as usual — the Gender field now feeds directly into the Discovery search:
Scroll down, switch Run Insurance Discovery to ON, and click Run Discovery as usual:
Two things to know on this form:
Selecting a Gender improves the search immediately — it is sent with the very first Discovery run.
The SSN you type here is saved with the record and used by Discovery runs made from the saved record (for example from the VOB afterwards). Security-wise, the SSN is never exposed in system logs — it always appears masked.
💡 Tip: If you change the Gender (or name, date of birth, or state) after running Discovery, the completed search is reset and the Run Discovery button reappears. That's intentional — the previous results were based on the old values, so run it again.
4. Running Discovery from Convert Lead and Records
The same improvement applies everywhere Discovery runs:
Convert Lead — the Gender selected in the form is used, and the lead's saved SSN is included automatically.
+Add VOB and the VOB page ("Run iVerify") — the Gender and SSN saved on the patient's Contact or Lead record are included automatically.
No steps change — you click the same buttons as before.
5. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to fill in Gender or SSN to run Discovery?
No. Both are optional. Discovery runs exactly as before when they're missing — this change only makes the search better when the data exists.
Q: A Medicaid patient has no Gender recorded — will Discovery refuse to run?
No. The CRM never blocks the search. Whatever pVerify returns for that search is shown as usual.
Q: The SSN on file has dashes or spaces — is that a problem?
No. The CRM cleans it to digits automatically. If what's on file isn't a valid 9-digit number, it's simply left out of the search rather than causing an error.
Q: Where does Discovery find the SSN? We renamed our SSN field.
The CRM locates your instance's SSN field by its label automatically. If your instance doesn't have an SSN field at all, Discovery just runs without it.
Q: Is the SSN visible in logs or reports after a search?
No. The SSN is masked in all system logs — only an indicator that an SSN was sent is recorded.
Q: Does this cost more credits?
No. Credit usage per Discovery search is unchanged.
Q: Why did my completed Discovery reset after I edited the patient's Gender?
Because the search results depended on the old value. Changing any patient-identity field (name, date of birth, state, Gender) resets the search so you can re-run it with the correct details.
Need Help?
If you run into issues:
Confirm the "Run Insurance Discovery" toggle is available and switched ON, and that your instance has iVerify credits remaining.
Re-check the patient's details (name, date of birth, state, Gender) and run the search again.
Contact Dazos support with the failed log entry details and reference CRM-3478.
