Overview
A call from a first-time caller appears in the Dazos call log, but no Lead record was created. The caller's phone number is present in the log, and there is no existing Lead or Account in the CRM associated with that number.
Possible Causes
The call came through a routing number, not a tracking number. CallRail routing numbers forward calls but do not trigger lead creation in Dazos. Only CallRail tracking numbers are configured to generate Lead records.
A mandatory CRM field was not satisfied by the CallRail payload. If the data sent by CallRail does not include a value required by a mandatory field in Dazos, the Lead record cannot be created — even for a first-time caller.
CallRail did not successfully transmit the full payload to Dazos. A call log with missing data fields may indicate that CallRail did not send the complete payload to the CRM integration. In this case, the call may be partially logged but the Lead creation process never completed.
The integration is misconfigured or the call data was not sent to the CRM at all. If the CallRail integration is not correctly set up, call data may not reach Dazos, preventing any Lead from being created.
Solution
Confirm the number is a CallRail tracking number, not a routing number. Log in to your CallRail account and verify that the number the caller dialed is configured as a tracking number. Routing numbers only forward calls and will never create leads in Dazos. If the number is a routing number, this is the cause — leads can only be created via tracking numbers.
Check the Dazos logger for the CallRail payload. Go to Settings → Other Settings → Dazos Logger.Review the Dazos integration logger to see what data was actually received from CallRail for this call. A call log with missing or incomplete fields is a strong indicator that CallRail did not successfully transmit the full payload. If the payload is absent or incomplete, the issue lies with how CallRail sent the data, not with Dazos lead creation logic.
Verify that no mandatory CRM fields are blocking record creation. Navigate to your Dazos CRM settings and review the mandatory fields configured for the Leads module. If any required field cannot be populated by the data CallRail sends, Lead creation will be blocked. Adjust mandatory field requirements if appropriate, or work with your CallRail configuration to ensure the missing data is included in the payload.
Verify the CallRail integration is active and correctly configured. Confirm that the CallRail integration in Dazos is enabled and that the webhook or integration settings are correctly pointed to your Dazos instance. A misconfigured integration can result in calls that appear partially in the system but do not complete the Lead creation process.
Important Notes
Missing call data in the log does not by itself prevent lead creation. Dazos separates the Lead creation process from the call log entry — a Lead can be created even if the call log is incomplete. However, if the CallRail payload was never fully delivered to Dazos, neither the Lead nor the complete call log will be created correctly.
The call log alone is not sufficient evidence that the full payload was received. A partial call log entry may appear even when CallRail did not transmit all required data. Always check the Dazos logger to confirm what was actually received in the payload before drawing conclusions.
Still Need Help?
If you have confirmed the tracking number is correct, reviewed the Dazos logger, and verified mandatory fields, but a Lead still was not created, contact Dazos Support. When reaching out, please provide:
The caller's phone number and the approximate date and time of the call
Confirmation of whether the number is a CallRail tracking number or routing number
Any payload data visible in the Dazos logger for the affected call
A list of mandatory fields currently configured for the Leads module in your instance
