Troubleshooting Quick Create Required Field Validation Errors for Non-Required Fields (CRM)

This guide helps you troubleshoot validation errors in Quick Create forms when the system incorrectly enforces required field validation on fields that are not marked as required in your module configuration.

Symptom/Error

When using Quick Create for Tasks (or other modules), you encounter an error message stating that certain fields are required (e.g., "Alumni fields are required"), even though those fields are not marked as required in Module Layouts and Fields. This forces users to open the full form instead of using Quick Create, defeating its purpose.

Cause

This behavior indicates a system validation issue where Quick Create is not respecting the same field requirements as the full form. This suggests either:

  • A bug in Quick Create validation logic

  • Hidden validation rules that aren't visible in the standard field configuration

  • Module configuration inconsistencies between Quick Create and full forms

Solution

Since this is a system-level validation issue that cannot be resolved through standard front-end configuration, follow these steps:

  1. Verify field requirements: Double-check that the problematic fields are indeed not marked as required in Settings → CRM Settings → Module Layouts & Fields for the affected module.

  2. Document the issue: Note which specific fields are triggering the error and in which module (e.g., Tasks, Alumni fields).

  3. Contact Support: Open a support ticket with the following information:

    • Your instance URL

    • The affected module name (e.g., Tasks)

    • The specific fields causing validation errors

    • Confirmation that these fields are not marked as required in Module Layouts & Fields

Temporary Workaround

While waiting for the backend fix:

  • Use the Full Create View instead of Quick Create for the affected module

  • Train users to expect this temporary limitation

When to Contact Support

Contact Dazos Support immediately if:

  • Quick Create validation errors occur for fields not marked as required

  • The issue persists after verifying the field configuration

  • Multiple modules are affected by similar validation inconsistencies

⚠️ Note: This issue requires backend investigation as there is no front-end configuration that can resolve validation rule inconsistencies between Quick Create and full forms.
