How to edit the Payer Code picklist values in Insurance Policies for Leads (CRM)

When adding Insurance Policies to leads, the Payer Code picklist may not be editable through standard settings. Here's how to find and update it when it's managed as a local picklist within the Leads module.

Before You Begin

  • Administrative access to Dazos CRM settings

  • Understanding of which module contains the Insurance Policies you need to edit

Steps

Step 1: Check if it's a Global Picklist (Try This First)

  1. Navigate to Settings → CRM Settings → Global Picklist

  2. Look for your Payer Code values in the global picklist section

  3. If you can find and edit the values here, you're done

If the values are not found in the Global Picklist, continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Access Module-Specific Picklist Settings

  1. Go to Settings → CRM Settings → Module Management → Picklist Field Values

Navigate to Module Management

Step 3: Select the Leads Module

  1. In the "Select Module" dropdown, choose Leads

  2. This will load all picklist fields available for the Leads module

Select Leads module

Step 4: Find the Insurance Provider Field

  1. In the "Select Picklist" dropdown, look for Insurance Provider or similar field name related to payer codes

  2. Select this field to access its picklist values

Select Insurance Provider field

Step 5: Edit Payer Code Values

  1. Click "Add Value" to add new payer codes

  2. Enter the payer code in the format: [Code - Name] (e.g., "00980 - Aetna Better Health (FL)")

  3. Click on the value text itself after adding it

  4. Click "Save" to apply your changes

Add new payer code value

Verification / Expected Result

After completing these steps:

  • The new payer codes will appear in the Insurance Policies Payer Code dropdown when adding insurance to leads

  • Users will be able to select the newly added values

  • The changes will be saved and persistent across sessions

Troubleshooting / Common Errors

  • Values not appearing: Ensure you selected the correct module (Leads) and the right picklist field (Insurance Provider)

  • Cannot save changes: Remember to click on the actual text of the value you added before saving

  • Wrong picklist found: Some instances may have custom field names - look for fields related to insurance or payer codes

💡 Tip: If you prefer to manage payer codes in one central location, contact Dazos support to help migrate your local picklist to use the global picklist instead.
