Before You Begin
Ensure you have:
Access to DocuSign with template creation permissions
A DocuSign template created or in progress
Understanding of the fields you want to map to Dazos
Steps to Access the Data Label Panel
Open your DocuSign template in edit mode
Add or select a field on your document
Look for the Data Label panel on the right-hand side of the screen
If the panel is not visible, check the field type - ensure it's a standard form field (text, number, date, etc.)
Verify the field purpose - confirm it's intended for DocuSign integration (not DocuSign-only fields)
Save your template and reopen it if the Data Label panel still doesn't appear
Best Practices for Data Label Naming
When setting up your Data Labels, follow this recommended format:
Data Label = [Field Description] - [Field Type] [Unique Identifier]
Example: Account Number - Number 458522123asdasdasd25125
Why Use Descriptive Data Labels
Easier troubleshooting: If integration issues occur, you can quickly identify which DocuSign field is causing problems
Payload identification: When reviewing integration logs, descriptive labels help pinpoint specific field mapping issues
Team collaboration: Other team members can understand field purposes without additional context
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If the Data Label panel is not visible:
Check field type: Some field types may not support data labels
Verify field relevance: Ensure the field is meant for integration, not DocuSign-only purposes
Test with a simple template: Create a small test template with basic fields to confirm panel functionality
Save and reload: Sometimes the panel appears after saving and reopening the template
Expected Result
You should see the Data Label panel on the right side of your DocuSign template editor, allowing you to add descriptive labels for each field that will be mapped to Dazos.
