Overview
This guide helps you resolve an "Access Denied" error that appears when exporting a report as a formatted PDF in Dazos CRM — even when the affected user has full Executive or Admin-level permissions and can successfully export the same report to Excel.
This error is not caused by browser compatibility or plan/product access issues. It is a role permission problem that requires a backend fix by Dazos Support.
Symptom
You see an "Access Denied" screen when clicking Export PDF on a report, but:
Exporting the same report as Excel or CSV works correctly
The user has full Executive or Admin-level role permissions
The error persists across multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
Logging out and back in does not resolve the issue
Clearing cache or cookies does not resolve the issue
Cause
PDF export and Excel export use different permission checks in the backend. A role can have full reporting privileges — including export rights — and still encounter an "Access Denied" error on formatted PDF exports if a specific permission is misconfigured at the role level.
This is a backend role permission issue, not a browser problem or a product access/plan issue.
What will NOT fix this: The following steps are commonly attempted but will not resolve this specific error:
Switching browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
Clearing browser cache or cookies
Logging out and back in
Testing in Incognito/Private mode
Disabling browser extensions
Solution
This issue must be escalated to Dazos Support for a backend role permission review and fix. End users and customer admins cannot resolve this independently.
Confirm that the affected user can export the same report to Excel but cannot export it as a formatted PDF. This distinction is the key indicator of a role permission issue.
Note the following details to include in your support request:
Affected user's name and role
Your CRM instance URL
The specific report(s) affected
Confirmation that Excel export works but PDF export fails
Browsers already tested
Contact Dazos Support and share the above details. A support agent will review and adjust the user's role permissions in the backend.
Once Support notifies you that the fix has been applied, log out and log back in to refresh your session, then test the PDF export again.
Verification / Expected Result
After the role permission fix is applied by Dazos Support, the affected user should be able to click Export PDF on any report they have access to and successfully download the formatted PDF — consistent with their existing Excel export capability.
Escalation
Contact Dazos Support immediately if:
A user receives "Access Denied" on PDF export but can export the same report to Excel
The error persists across multiple browsers after basic troubleshooting
The user has full Executive or Admin-level role permissions but PDF export still fails
⚠️ Important: Do not spend time troubleshooting browsers or cache if the user can export to Excel successfully. That combination of symptoms always points to a role permission issue — escalate to Support right away.
