How iCampaign Handles Email Address Updates from the CRM (iCampaign)

Overview

When a contact's email address is updated in the Dazos CRM, iCampaign correctly creates a new subscriber entry using the updated address — the sync is working as intended. This article explains what happens to the old address, why bounce notifications may still appear, and what to expect from future improvements.

Why It Matters

Users who update contact email addresses in the CRM and then see bounce notifications in iCampaign may assume the sync has failed. Understanding the distinction between a sync issue and a suppression list notification helps avoid unnecessary concern and ensures your team can send campaigns with confidence.

How Email Address Updates Are Handled

What Happens When You Update an Email in the CRM

  • When a contact's email address is changed in the Dazos CRM, iCampaign automatically creates a new subscriber entry with the updated email address.

  • The updated address is active and eligible to receive future campaign sends.

  • The sync between the CRM and iCampaign is functioning correctly when this occurs.

Why the Old (Bounced) Address May Still Appear

  • When an email address previously bounced, the email delivery provider adds it to a suppression list.

  • This suppression list is maintained by the email delivery provider — not by iCampaign itself.

  • Because of this, the old bounced address may still surface as a bounce notification even after the contact record has been updated in the CRM.

  • This does not affect your contact records, the updated subscriber entry, or future campaign sends.

What Happens to Unsubscribed Contacts

Contacts that are unsubscribed in iCampaign are excluded from all future campaign sends. You do not need to take any additional action to prevent them from receiving emails once they have been unsubscribed.

Upcoming Improvement

Dazos is actively developing a platform improvement to address the bounce notification experience. Once released, previously bounced or suppressed addresses will no longer surface as bounce alert notifications and will not be attempted on future sends. We will communicate updates as this improvement progresses.

Tips & Notes

⚠️ Important: Seeing a bounce notification for an old email address does not mean the sync has failed. If the contact's updated email address appears as an active subscriber in iCampaign, the sync is working correctly.

💡 Tip: If you are unsure whether a specific contact's updated email is reflected in iCampaign, check the subscriber list in iCampaign for the new email address. If it is present and active, no further action is needed.

Best Practice: If you notice a contact whose email was updated in the CRM but whose new address does not appear in iCampaign, contact Dazos Support so the team can investigate the specific record.
